Sarah Collier is a photographer based in New York and the Scottish Highlands. Originally from the UK, Collier earned her BA in English from the University of Lancaster. Since relocating to New York in 2001, after a successful career in travel guide publishing, she has studied photography at ICP and The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and has participated in workshops at Nord Photography in Norway and Tuscany.
Collier’s photography explores themes of disconnection and vulnerability through street photography and also through images of the natural world. As a visual storyteller, she combines photography with writing and poetry to fully explore these themes.
She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three boys and spends summers exploring and photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the Scottish Highlands.
